Iveco

Iveco (derived from “Industrial Vehicles Corporation") is an auto-group from Italy, producing civil trucks and buses, as well as special and military vehicles. The main office is located in Turin. The Iveco history began in 1974 with the creation of the auto-group as a result of the incorporation of the subdivisions of Fiat Industrial Vehicles (Turin, Italy), OM (Brescia, Italy), Lancia Special Vehicles (Bolzano, Italy), Unic (Trappes, France), and Magirus-Deutz (Ulm, Germany). The Iveco Daily truck, with a gross weight of 2.9-4.9 tons, released in 1978, became the first result of the cooperation. This truck marked an important milestone in the development of the Iveco range. Over time, the truck entered mass production. Throughout its existence, the Iveco company has expanded the range of production, including light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and medium-duty trucks, as well as freight trucks and diesel power plants. Additionally, Iveco commercial vehicles entered the market for military and special vehicles. Nowadays, the Iveco brand is an international corporation, possessing 49 plants and an advanced dealer network in 19 countries. The trucks are assembled under license in countries such as Argentina, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Venezuela, Chile, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Zaire, Vietnam, China, and Russia. Moreover, the Iveco automotive group owns brands such as Iveco, Iveco Motors, Iveco Magirus, Astra, Seddon Atkinson, and Irisbus, which showcase the diversity of the Iveco truck range and other products.

The TurboStar tractor unit has been a top-of-the-range truck since 1984, gaining popularity in Italy. At the end of the 1980s, the design, gearbox, and engine of Iveco Daily were upgraded, further solidifying Iveco's history of innovation and quality.

In the 1990s, a new series of Euro trucks appeared, including EuroCargo, EuroTech, EuroTrakker, and EuroStar, showcasing the broad Iveco vehicles.

In 1998, these models began to be fitted with Cursor 8 and Cursor 10 engines, using common rail injection technology, marking a leap in the evolution of Iveco models.

In 1996, Iveco purchased the fire-fighting subdivision Carniva S.A., further expanding its production segment.

In 2003, the Iveco brand introduced the new Stralis with an Active Space cabin. Soon after, a new Trakker was also released.

Recognizing environmental challenges, the Iveco company launched the Ecostralis in 2010, designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. New Daily and Stralis models continue to be produced in line with eco-friendly principles.

The Iveco Commercial and Industrial Vehicle Subdivision produces heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty trucks for long-distance, regional, and off-road transportations. The GVW of these vehicles ranges from 2.8 to 44 tons, reflecting the vast Iveco truck range. The trucks are equipped with gas engines, hybrid drives, and electric motors, demonstrating the breadth of the Iveco automotive lineup.

Additionally, Iveco occupies the market niche for special trucks in cooperation with Magirus, a company known for producing fire-fighting trucks. The Iveco group also continues to expand its product lineup through various partnerships.

The Iveco Astra subdivision has been producing construction equipment and components for 65 years. The trucks are specially designed for use in quarries and similar settings. Today, the following models of trucks are produced:

• HD9, a 2, 3, or 4-wheeled truck equipped with Cursor engines and enhanced chassis, known for its high ergonomics.
• HHD9 is built for heavy tasks, with a GVW of 50 tons (for the 6x6 modification) and 63 tons (for the 8x6 AWD modification). These trucks are fitted with Cursor 13 engines.
• ADT is an AWD truck designed for harsh work conditions, such as in quarries and at construction sites, and is equipped with Cursor 13 engines.
• RD is a truck with a standard 4x4 chassis type and a GVW of 28-50 tons, developed for use in quarries and for ground transportation. This model is known for its ease of use and low operational costs.

The Iveco Defense Vehicles subdivision produces trucks for military purposes and special services, with armored modifications available.

Coach models include the Midys, Recreo (a school bus equipped with the Tector engine), Crossway (featuring the Cursor engine), and its low-floor modification Crossway LE. The Arway, introduced in 2005, was the first bus to meet Euro-4 environmental standards, showcasing Iveco’s commitment to eco-friendliness. Other models include the Evadys (produced at the French Iveco factory since 2005), GT Class (Grand Tourisme Class) Domino buses (produced in Italy since 2007), and the Magelys (which debuted in 2007 and was named "Bus of the Year" in 2008). All buses are equipped with HI-eSCR EURO-6 engines, emphasizing the Iveco brand’s dedication to low operational costs.
