The European Commission has approved a reduction in taxes of 384 million Euros granted by the Italian public authorities to stimulate the production and use of bio-diesel by 2010. These are transitional measures which also introduce an obligation where bio-diesel supply is concerned: all suppliers of petrol and diesel on the Italian market will be obliged to make available a minimum quantity of bio-fuels. From January 1st 2008, the proportion of bio-fuels must represent 2% of the total volume of deliveries of the previous year.
